Mr. Masanobu Katoh Chairman Emeritus, ILPF (Internet Law & Policy Forum)

 Mr. Katoh is active in policy issues surrounding information technology, including those relating to electronic commerce, science and technology, telecommunications, international trade, and intellectual property rights.
On Internet issues, Mr. Katoh works closely with the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN). He is currently a member of the ICANN Board of Directors, where he serves as the At-Large representative for the Asia-Pacific region.
In the area of electronic commerce, he is actively involved in promoting the policy making process in the private sector. Mr. Katoh serves as the Chairman of the Electronic Commerce Committee of the Forum for the Global Information Infrastructure (GIIC).
Mr. Katoh is also actively involved with other international groups including Internet Law and Policy Forum (ILPF).
He is also an active member of the Advisory Committee on International Communications and Information Policy of the U.S. Department of State, where he has served as a chairman of the Working Group on Intellectual Property, Standards, and Interoperability. He has co-authored one book, Interfaces on Trial and has published many articles in both Japanese and English.
Mr. Katoh received his Bachelors of Law degree at the University of Tokyo and his Masters of Law degree from the University of Michigan Law School. |
