Takuma Otoshi joined IBM Japan in 1971, as a marketing representative, after receiving a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Tokyo.
    He held several management positions before being assigned as Region Manager, Marketing Operations - Distribution & Services, in 1998. In 1994, he was appointed IBM Japan Director and General Manager, Industry Solution Unit - Government. After being assigned as an administrative assistant to IBM Chairman and CEO, Louis V. Gerstner Jr., he was appointed as General Manager, IBM Global Services, Japan, in 1996. He became IBM Japan Managing Director in 1996 and assumed his current position in December 1999. He is also a member of METI's Information Economy Committee, Industrial Structure Council.
