Greetings

With the global expansion of the internet, all information, from politics and economics to our own lives, is becoming digitized and reciprocated. US President Obama came into power by cleverly using this kind of digital information; and the application of information and communication technology (ICT) to the financial sector gave rise to new destabilizing factors. Furthermore, the emergence of cloud computing and various personal digital assistants has led to an environment where we can access not only business information but also entertainment information such as music and videos whenever and wherever we want. Suppose we call this use of information "information consumption." How will the style of information consumption change in the future? How will our lives, politics and economies be affected?
Following on from last year's summit, the main theme of the Global ICT Summit 2009 will be "The Future of the Information Consumption Society." Business leaders and opinion leaders from Japan and overseas have been invited to present the latest trends from the four perspectives of Cloud Computing, Social Webs, Next-Generation Mobiles and Media Innovations, and they will discuss the future developments of our net society.
