Brian Herbert is the Director of Crowdmap, serving up free hosted deployments of the Ushahidi Platform. Crowdmap allows anyone to have a website up and running that crowdsources and aggregates geospatial information and visualizes it in useful ways for visitors. His responsibilities run the gamut from customer service, to vision and development. Before falling in love with Ushahidi, he was a Peace Corps Volunteer in Kenya, worked with Esoko in Ghana as a software developer and performed web maintenance at CNET. He received his MBA from Kennesaw State University and a BS in Computer Information Systems from Bellarmine University. |

Mauro Del Rio is Founder and Chairman of Buongiorno S.p.A. Prior to founding Buongiorno in 1999, he had been Senior Strategy Manager at Andersen Consulting (now Accenture), specialising in consultancy for the most important financial institutions and Italian wireline and wireless telecommunication companies. Before joining Accenture, Del Rio worked at Ote Telecomunicazioni - the Italian branch of Marconi Group - specialising in the research and development of the first experimentation of standard technology GSM in 1989. Mauro Del Rio began his professional career as a researcher in Cefriel/Politecnico University, where he gained a Master's Degree in IT in 1988. |

Alex WANG is Vice President for Global Strategic Alliance at ZTE. His current role aims at establishing and maintaining long-term strategic partnerships with operators in key markets. Prior to current position, Alex was Managing Director of ZTE Business Consulting. He and his consultants worked very closely with and for global operators on business and strategic areas, such as strategy, marketing, services development, and financial analysis. Prior to ZTE, Alex worked for a Singapore mobile operator focusing on development of products and services, especially those for the consumer market. He was actively involved in major and multiple mobile data services from the very early days of SMS,WAP,GPRS, and all the way to 3G. Alex started his profession in telecommunications researching in communication theory, particularly the analysis of communication systems performance under fading channels. He holds a patent in mobile communications. Alex holds a master's degree in Electrical Engineering from National University of Singapore. He also holds a postgraduate diploma in Investment Management from The University of Hong Kong. |

Kiyoyuki Tsujimura became Senior Executive Vice President responsible for Multimedia Services and Technology at NTT DOCOMO, INC. in July 2008. He was named Managing Director of the Products & Services Division in June 2005 while continuing to serve as an Executive Vice President since June 2004. Tsujimura became Managing Director of the Corporate Strategy & Planning Department in June 2002. In June 2001 he was named a Senior Vice President and a Member of the Board of Directors while continuing to serve as Managing Director of the Global Business Department since January 1999. He joined NTT DOCOMO in its founding year, 1992, and contributed to the company's startup as a key member of the Corporate Strategy & Planning Department. Tsujimura entered NTT Public Corporation in April 1975, after graduating from the Tokyo Institute of Technology Graduate School of Science and Engineering with a master's degree in physical electronics. He earned a master's degree in business administration from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in June 1987, and a doctorate in social engineering from the Tokyo Institute of Technology in March 2007. He was born in Osaka on January 11, 1950. |

Cirius Technologies had been running a leading location based ad network in Japan called AdLocal since 2006 until the company was acquired by Yahoo! Japan in 2010. He is also CEO of Georepublic Japan, a company providing GIS-development services using open source software. In addition to his daily job, he is also a chief organizer of Geomedia Summit, one of biggest free conferences for Geoweb services in Japan for three years. |

Harada joined Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corporation (NTT) in 1998. After experiencing consulting of internet systems for corporate clients, he was engaged with a broad range of services in portal and content business, including content planning and sales of a movie distribution site, “BROBA”, as well as launching music and movie distribution site on the portal, “goo”. He then joined NTT DOCOMO, Inc. and was in charge of portal strategy. He has made remarkable accomplishments at DOCOMO especially in the field of mobile, search and CGM. He has led the portal team to implement search and CGM to “i-mode”. He joined mixi, Inc. in January, 2008 and have led the company to develop and advance services such as “mixi for mobile”, “mixi New Year’s Greeting Card”, “mixi apps” and the soundness of mixi. Nigel Hickson was educated in Hertfordshire in England before going to the City University to study Electronic and Electrical Engineering. He joined the Department of Trade and Industry in 1982. He was seconded to the CBI in June 2000 to head up their newly formed E-business Group and in July 2001 joined the Government of Bermuda as the E Business Adviser to the Minister of Telecommunications and E Commerce. Nigel returned to the Department for Business Innovation and Skills in 2004 where he headed up a team working on global ICT policy and regulatory issues; recently working on the ITU Plenipotentiary and the EU Communications Framework. In April 2011, Nigel's post transferred over to the Department of Culture, Media and Sport due to UK Machinery of Government changes. He is a keen cycler, walker and helper in the UK Scout movement. |

Akira Arima is the President and CEO of NTT Communications Corporation (NTT Com), one of the world’s largest telecommunications carriers offering consumer and global enterprise services. Before becoming president in June 2010, Arima was a Senior Executive Vice President and General Manager of NTT Com’s Net Business Division for three years. He reorganized the company’s video distribution business for TV retransmission via next-generation networks (NGN), spearheaded new growth for the NTT Com group’s OCN-brand Internet access service and goo-brand web services portal, and strengthened his involvement in international M&A. Arima previously was with NTT Corp., the parent company of NTT Com, where he became a Senior Vice President and Director of the Corporate Management Strategy Division in June 2005. He helped to define and implement NTT Group medium-term management strategies and led the group’s expansion into NGN. Arima was a Senior Vice President and Executive Manager of the Corporate Strategy Planning Department at NTT East Corporation, a major Japanese telephone company, between June 2002 and June 2005. He helped to reorganize the company through increased outsourcing and the launch of inter-prefectural IP services. Arima made important contributions to the privatization of the formerly public NTT in 1985. Later, when NTT Corp. was reorganized, he guided the first three-year business plan as Senior Manager of the Corporate Strategy Planning Department in 1999. Arima graduated from Hitotsubashi University with a bachelor’s degree in commerce and management and earned an MBA at Stanford University. An avid jogger, he enjoys participating in relay road races. Arima is 61 years old. |

Jeff Ray brings more than 30 years of experience in global technology sales, management, and operations to Dassault Systèmes. As executive vice president of geographic operations, Jeff is a member of the executive committee, located in the DS corporate office in Vélizy-Villacoublay, France. There, he oversees management of the company's 12 geographies to better address the specific local challenges facing the customers and partners across the world. Previously, Jeff served as CEO of DS SolidWorks where he successfully spearheaded the brand's outstanding growth, and helped secure its position as the leader in the CAD market. Under Jeff's tenure the Professional Channel network saw growth in the installed base from 635,000 to more than 1.4 million passionate SolidWorks users as well as record margins. Jeff joined SolidWorks in 2003 as COO, tripling revenues and establishing new subsidiaries in such high growth areas as China, India, and Brazil. Prior to DS SolidWorks, Jeff was at business software vendor Progress Software Corporation, where he was responsible for all customer-facing field operations in dozens of countries as vice president of worldwide field operations. Previously, he served as vice president of global solutions at Compuware Corporation, where he launched the company's integrated software / services practices and grew annual sales from zero to $100 million. Garrett Ilg was appointed President of SAP Japan on 15 September 2008. He has responsibility for all aspects of SAP Japan operations and go-to-market initiatives. An IT veteran, Ilg has a wealth of experience in the IT industry and deep knowledge of both software solutions and the Japan market. He joined SAP from Adobe Japan where he was President from 2005 to 2008, growing the Adobe Japan business to more than 25% of Adobe's global revenue. Prior to joining Adobe Ilg held leadership roles in Japan and Asia Pacific. He was President of Nihon BEA Systems from 1999 to 2002, and Senior Vice President in charge of Asia Pacific region for BEA Systems from 2002 to 2005. Toshiaki Honda is the Mayor of Tono City, Iwate Prefecture. Born in 1947 in Tono City. After working for Iwate Prefecture municipal government as a government official, Honda was first elected as the Mayor of Tono City in 2002. In 2005, upon integration of cities, he became the first mayor of (New) Tono City. He is presently in his third term of office. He works on regional development that promotes confidence and pride in the history and culture of each region through various programs including the Special Zone for Regenerating Home for Japanese People (commonly called "Doburoku Tokku") and the "Ordinance for Tono Heritage Recognition". He is also keen on promoting citizens' health through programs such as the remote medical checkup at a publicly-paid maternity center "Net Yurikago", "Sukoyaka Oyakotecho (maternal and child health handbook)", and Health Enhancement Network Project in which ICT is utilized. In anticipation of an earthquake and tsunami off the coastal areas of Miyagi Prefecture, he has been promoting "Concept for Maintaining Hubs and Facilities for Logistic Support Operations at the Time of Earthquake and Tsunami Disaster" since 2007 in cooperation with municipalities of coastal cities, towns and villages in the prefecture. During the Great East Japan Earthquake, he has been committed to logistic support activities for disaster-struck areas. |

Izumi Aizu is Professor and Senior Research Fellow at the Institute for InfoSocinomics, Kumon Center, Tama University in Tokyo and Deputy Director at the Institute for HyperNetwork Society in Oita, Japan. Izumi promoted the use of PC based networking in the 1980s and the Internet in the 1990s. In 1997, he founded Asia Network Research in Malaysia, focusing on societal aspects of the Internet, global governance and digital divide issues. In April 2000, he returned to Tokyo. He represented Japanese NPO under the government’s requests at the G8 Digital Opportunity Task Force (DOT Force, 2000 - 2002). He has been participating in the ICANN, WSIS, WGIG and IGF activities as a member of civil society. Until today, he has been trying to bring the voices of users and citizens at ICANN process: at the Membership Advisory Committee (MAC, 1999 - 2000); At-Large Advisory Committee (ALAC, 2003 - 2008). In 2001, he organized to support Asian civil society members to participate in the preparatory process of World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) at Tokyo Regional preparatory meeting in 2003 and other occasions. In 2004 he co-found Internet Governance Task Force (IGTF) of Japan to engage in the debate on Internet Governance at the WSIS Working Group on Internet Governance. In 2009, he co-founded Japan Internet Domain Name Council to promote Internationalized Country Code Top Level Domain, dot Nippon, to bring fair and open selection and governance process for ccTLD management in multi-stakeholder manner in Japan. After the devastating earthquake and Tsunami on March 11 this year, he called for the establishment of “Information Support pro bono Platform (iSPP) and became its co-director. His recent papers include “Beyond Network Neutrality” (Telecommunication Journal of Australia, 2009) and Japan Chapter at Global Information Society Watch (APC, 2009, 2010). |

Born in 1962 in Nara Prefecture. Graduated from Department of Hispanic Studies, Faculty of Foreign Studies, Sophia University. Tazawa joined Sharp Corporation where she worked on computer technology, planning and sales promotions before leaving the company for marriage and child birth. Later she became an independent freelance writer writing computer related books and magazines as a SOHO (teleworker) while raising 3 daughters and moving 5 times due to transfers at request of her husband’s company. In 1998, in order to implement the concept of "Net Office", that helps managing companies over the Internet, Tazawa established an organization called Y's Staff in Kitami City, Hokkaido where her husband was transferred to. In 2004, she opened Nara office as her second base, and Y's Staff was reorganized into a limited company the next year. Now, the company has about 140 teleworkers inside and outside Japan who are concurrently managing over 50 projects. Main business activities include website production, email magazine editing and marketing. As her life's work, she commits herself to the achievement of a society where not only women but also people who live in rural areas, senior citizens and people with disabilities can work over the Internet. |

After serving as Economic Counselor and Telecommunications Attaché at Embassy of Japan in US (Washington D.C.) (2002 - 2005) , Director of Competition Policy Division(2005 - 2007) and Director of Telecommunications Policy Division, he has served in his capacity since July 2008. Som Mittal is President of NASSCOM, the premier trade body for the IT-BPO Industry in India and is playing a key role to enable NASSCOM and the industry realize its strategic vision of `Transforming Business and Transform India´. He also has an extensive experience of working with Japanese companies such as Denso, Hewlett Packard Japan, Seiko-Epson and Yamaha. NASSCOM in its 20+ years of inception has partnered with the industry and government to define policies, build growth segments, enhance international collaboration, facilitate talent development, build global leadership, strengthen cyber security and help industry adopt best practices in all its spheres of operation. Technology enabled inclusive growth and building a vibrant domestic market are key initiatives launched by NASSCOM to enable better delivery of services, access and skill development in the country. In its role of an institution builder, NASSCOM has fostered the development of NASSCOM Foundation, Data Security Council of India and National Institute of Smart Government (NISG). Som assumed office of the President, NASSCOM in January 2008. He has a rich and wide ranging work experience of over 30 years in corporate India, he has been a part of the Indian IT industry for the past 20 years. Since 2007, he has overseen Sony's digital reading business where it was headquartered in San Diego, California (USA) and the business is now operating in 19 countries worldwide. Having been an editor for a women's magazine Katei Gahou, she founded Discover 21, Inc. in 1985. Since then she has been managing the business as the president, cultivating the company as the best in the country for direct transaction in book trades. In 2011 the total sales of its publication, “Nietzsche's Words”, reached million for the first time in the company's history. As a manager of the editing unit, she released various series including CD-sized books, “Millionaise”, “Kyoiku”, “Keisho”, and “Dis+cover science”. She still works as an editor, and with different points of view she continues to produce bestsellers including Kazuyo Katsuma's various publications, Kazuyoshi Komiya's “Businessman” series, and “The Age of Marriage Partner-Hunting” She has drawn attention from the industry for coming up with innovative e-book projects, such as editing the award-winning “The Impact of E-books”, and creating the company's e-book downloading website at the early phase of e-books. |

Takehiko Ogi is President of Maruzen CHI Holdings Company, Limited. He joined Maruzen Co., Ltd. in January 2007 as an advisor. In April of that year, he became president. In December 2010, he was appointed president of 2Dfacto Inc., which was jointly established by Dai Nippon Printing Co., Ltd., NTT DOCOMO, INC., and Maruzen CHI Holdings Co., Ltd. In 1984, he began his career with the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (at present Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry) and took charge of planning of supporting Venture business and Electronics industry Policy. Then, he studied at Woodrow Wilson School of Public Policy at Princeton University from 1989 to 1991 during his tenure and received Master's Degree for international affairs. After working at MITI for 13 years, he joined Culture Convenience Club Co., Ltd. and set up a business project of TSUTAYA Online Service. Waichi Sekiguchi is an editorial writer for Nikkei Newspaper, the largest economic daily in Asia. He joined Nikkei in 1982 and currently covers the IT industry and cyberspace issues. Sekiguchi used to be a Washington correspondent during the Bush and Clinton Administrations in early 1990s, covering US trade and government issues. Prior to that he was a Fulbright research fellow at the Center for International Affairs of Harvard University and he was a chief writer for The Nikkei Weekly, the English edition of the Nikkei newspaper. He has also written many books on the Internet and IT industry. Titles include "Cyberspace Revolution," "Savvy Search Technique," "Pioneers of Japanese PC Industry," etc. He graduated from Hitotsubashi University and he is a visiting professor at Hosei University Business School and The Center for Global Communications (GLOCOM), International University of Japan. He also teaches at Waseda University and Meiji University as a part-time instructor. |
