Toshio Iwamoto was appointed to his current post in June 2012, prior to which he served as Representative Director, Senior Executive Vice President and Company President, Public & Financial IT Services Company from 2009, Director, Executive Vice President and Head of the Financial Business Sector from 2007 and Senior Vice President and Head of the Financial Business Sector from 2005.

Mr. Iwamoto is the author of IT Kofuku-ron (IT as a tool to bring happiness), a book on how IT can help corporate management and bring about happiness in society, published in 2013.

A native of Nagano Prefecture, he graduated from Tokyo University's School of Engineering and started his career in April 1976 at Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Public Corporation, currently NTT Corporation, the parent company of NTT DATA.

Martin Jetter joined IBM in January 1986. He has served various leadership positions, including General Manager of Product Lifecycle Management, General Manager and Managing Director of IBM's worldwide business with Siemens and General Manager of IBM Business Consulting Services in Central and Eastern Europe. Mr. Jetter was also appointed as General Manager of Global Business Services in Northeast Europe in July 2005 and General Manager for IBM Germany in November 2006. In these positions he was responsible for transformation initiatives in critical business segments in Central Europe. Mr. Jetter took a corporate role as Vice President of Strategy and General Manager, Enterprise Initiatives for IBM in May 2011, where he led the worldwide strategy planning and execution of IBM Corporation. In April 2012, he joined the Board of Directors of IBM Japan, and on May 15, he became the IBM Japan General Manager. He holds a degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Stuttgart.

Mark Raskino is a Distinguished Analyst and Gartner Fellow in Executive Leadership and Innovation research. Mr. Raskino works primarily with CIOs and CEOs. He covers business and technology trends and their implications for business strategy and IT management. Mr. Raskino's research includes digital business, Gartner's Annual CEO Survey, Annual CIO Resolutions and Annual CEO Resolutions, as well as the 2008 Harvard Press book "Mastering the Hype Cycle". He is an accomplished and frequent keynote speaker. Current key research topics include digital business leadership and strategy, innovation management, and information innovation in business strategy.

In previous roles at Gartner, Mr. Raskino has:
- Chaired Gartner's Emerging Trends Symposium (2007 and 2008)
- Developed macro-scale emerging trends research (2005 and 2006)
- Co-led Gartner's real-time enterprise research (2003 and 2004)

Before joining Gartner, Mr. Raskino was a senior e-business manager at British Airways, following prior work within its IT department on loyalty programs, airport operations and revenue management systems. Early in his career, Mr. Raskino worked in IT departments in the telecommunications and oil industries.

She has also served in executive positions at Tele Atlas (acquired by TomTom), TopTier Software (acquired by SAP), and Nielsen / Claritas. Elissa also sold national advertising for the Wall Street Journal. She's a frequent speaker and has spoken at conferences including the DMA, the NCDM, Location Intelligence, the AIR National Forum and others. Elissa is a graduate of Santa Clara University and holds an MBA in Marketing and Decision Systems from the University of Southern California.

Since its launch in 2011, Treasure Data, led by Hiro Yoshikawa, has been in the center of global attention with its big data analytics service. The company caught attention in Japan as a business launched by a Japanese entrepreneur in Silicon Valley. Expectations for the company had been high since its launch, as it successfully raised fund from top investors in Silicon Valley, including Jerry Yang, Co-Founder of Yahoo, and Bill Tai. The company is now growing rapidly as if to meet the expectations. Treasure Data offers end-to-end cloud service of data collection, storage and analysis. By late 2013, more than 2 trillion data records have been stored from over 90 corporate customers.
Yoshikawa began his career at Red Hat as an engineer while he was still studying at Waseda University, and was engaged in educational programs, product marketing and business development. In 2009, he moved to the U.S. as a member of Mitsui Ventures, a private equity department of Mitsui & Co. Gaining experience in investment and management of several open-source software companies, Yoshikawa later founded Treasure Data with Kazuki Ohta, who is now the company's CTO (Chief Technology Officer). Ohta was CTO at Preferred Infrastructure, a search engine vender in Japan. He also founded the world's largest Hadoop User Group.
Treasure Data founded its Japanese arm in 2012 and rolled out its business in May 2013. In July 2013, the company raised 5 million dollars from Sierra Ventures. Treasure Data is now accelerating its global operations.

Yasufumi Hirai is President and General Manager for Cisco Japan and a Senior Vice President of Cisco. In this role he manages all operations for the Japanese market. He joined Cisco Japan in 2008 as Vice President for Enterprise, Public Sector and Commercial Operations.
Before joining Cisco, Hirai was a Senior Managing Executive Officer at Microsoft, leading its enterprise business in Japan. Previously, he spent 20 years at IBM Japan, Ltd., involved in Corporate Strategy, Telecommunications Industry Unit, Software Group, and other management positions. He served two separate assignments to New York for IBM.
Hirai is a director of Japan Association of New Economy, a trustee of the Japan Association of Corporate Executives (Keizai Doyukai), and a member of Japan Quality Award Council, in addition to serving as an Adjunct Researcher in the Institute of Human Resource Studies, Waseda University.
Hirai is a graduate of the Faculty of Mathematics, Kyushu University.

Ustream, YouTube live) using existing camcorder only to connect via HDMI cable without PC. They focused onto global-niche market, and then roughly 50% revenue comes from outside of Japan.

Bandar heads Jawbone's Special Projects division. He is responsible for exploring innovative and new product, branding, and business opportunities that strategically align with Jawbone's roadmap. Since joining Jawbone in 2008, he has established much of the company's international business including its global distribution agreements, online businesses as well as international public relations, marketing and business development efforts.

Prior to Jawbone, Bandar spent 4 years in the Middle East managing business development for a private conglomerate in Telecoms, Industrial Services, and Construction, where he secured over 200M USD in new revenues. Peter Vesterbacka is the Mighty Eagle (CMO) of Rovio Entertainment Ltd., the company that created the wildly successful Angry Birds franchise and over 50 other games. Peter spearheads the company's marketing and business strategy, including expanding Angry Birds into a broader entertainment franchise. Prior to Rovio, Peter worked for HP in several communications-industry related roles. While at HP, Peter founded the HP Mobile E-Services Bazaar, a global innovation and corporate partnership program that Booz Allen Hamilton declared an industry benchmark. Karim Temsamani oversees all of Google's sales and operations across the Asia-Pacific region, determining the strategy for 16 offices and the regional business strategy for Google products including AdWords, AdMob, Google Maps, Google Apps for Business, DoubleClick Ad Exchange, YouTube and AdSense.

He was most recently Google's Vice President for New Products and Solutions for the Americas region, leading Google's business and strategy for its rapidly growing newer businesses, including mobile advertising, display advertising, DoubleClick platforms, YouTube, social products and new search ad formats.

From 2010 to 2012, he was Google's Global Head of Mobile. He oversaw the growth of Google's mobile advertising business worldwide, leading the teams charged with providing advertising services and solutions to thousands of advertisers, developers, and publishers. From 2007 to 2010, Karim was Managing Director, Google Australia and New Zealand, leading its business and strategic partnerships in those countries. Karim joined Google from Fairfax Media, where he was Commercial Director for Newspapers (responsible for agency and group sales, trade marketing and business development) and Group Director, Fairfax General Magazines.

From 1999 to 2002, he was the Publisher and Vice President of Who Weekly at Time Inc., South Pacific. He has previously served in a variety of senior capacities with Hachette Filippachi Media, in Hong Kong, Korea and Australia.

Ashish is president of Portfolio & Service Design (P&SD) and BT Advise and has dual accountability reporting into Luis Alvarez, CEO BT Global Services and Clive Selley, CEO Technology Service & Operations (TSO).

BT Global Services provides networked IT services to BT's global multi-national customers across UK, EMEA, Asia Pacific and the Americas.

TSO is a new BT unit formed in 2013 with end to end responsibility for designing, implementing and maintaining BT's network, systems, solutions and business processes for every part of BT.

In his capacity as president P&SD, Ashish has the responsibility for implementing global services network and IT strategy across the world. He is responsible for BT Global Services portfolio offerings. His mandate is to drive increased profitability and improved customer satisfaction for BT Global Services by rationalising networks, systems and processes, standardising and enhancing portfolio offerings and supporting customers on scalable, high-performance platforms, right first time, every time.

And as president BT Advise, Ashish is responsible for creating a better and stronger global professional services capability that complements BTs core propositions to provide the flexible solutions that global customers demand.

With extensive experience across BT, he has held positions including managing director for BT Global Platforms where he was responsible for delivering the platform-based IT strategy for all the businesses within BT Group. Prior to this, Ashish was the IT director responsible for bringing new products and services to market and was deputy CIO for BT Wholesale.

Before joining BT in 2004, Ashish spent around 9 years with Tech Mahindra in various roles, latterly as an IT delivery director responsible for Tech Mahindra's CRM practice. He holds an MBA (General Management) from the London Business School.

At the third grade of elementary school, he met the world of programming that can be re-created. While changing development languages, such as BASIC, Assembler and C, he devoted himself to software development. Joining a programming club of his school, the Fukui National College of Technology, and working part-time, he could become aware of pleasure in making things doing services for people. While he was working as a free-lance programmer after graduation from the college, he held starting of his business in his mind. After having established two companies, he founded a present company, jig.jp co., ltd. in 2003 and succeeded in development of the world's first downloadable type full-browser "jig Browser" that enabled mobile phone users to view Web sites for PCs though the users could see nothing but Web sites prepared for mobile phones until those days. In order to pursue a rich social model, he located the company's head office in Sabae City, Fukui Prefecture. He is therein engaged in a programming course for senior people and children, as well as local government's open data activity "Data City Sabae" , an organization "Code for Sabae" to take advantage of the open data and IT events to facilitate networking of local people with entrepreneurs from the Tokyo area. He is also supporting junior people studying at National Colleges of Technology in Japan by providing them with internship and giving lectures as well as originating "Code for KOSEN".

Previously, she worked as a policy adviser at the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner, where she first became passionate about opening up Public Sector Information for reuse by the community. He is a member of the World Bank's Open Government Data Working Group, and has led World Bank efforts to support open data initiatives in Bolivia, Burkina Faso, Ethiopia, Ghana, India, Kenya, Malawi, Moldova, Nepal, Nigeria, Tanzania, and Uruguay.

Lecturer brief history

Paul Timmers is Director of the Sustainable & Secure Society Directorate in the European Commission Communications Networks, Content and Technologies Directorate General (DG CONNECT) dealing with policy and R&I in ICT and health, ageing, public services, smart cities and cyber-security. Previously he headed the ICT for Inclusion and the eGovernment units. He was also member of the Cabinet of European Commissioner for Enterprise and Information Society.

Before joining the European Commission, he was a manager in product marketing and software development in a large IT company. He also co-founded a software start-up. He holds a PhD in theoretical physics from the University of Nijmegen, the Netherlands and a MBA from Warwick Business School, UK. He has widely published in the field of technology and policy, including a book on electronic commerce strategies and business models. He was a visiting professor and lecturer at several universities and business schools across the world including an EU Research Fellow at the University of North Carolina in USA.

Elettra Ronchi, PhD, MPP, is Senior Policy Analyst at the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) in Paris where she co-ordinates work on the digital economy, e-health and smart ageing.

Elettra Ronchi has more than 20 years experience as policy analyst, evaluating the instruments available to governments to improve the public benefits from investments in health, science and technology. From 2006 to 2011 she led a project geared towards understanding the drivers and barriers to the adoption of information and communication technologies in the health sector including the development of international measures and approaches to benchmarking progress in this sector.
Since 2011 she has been responsible for OECD work on the silver economy and smart ageing.

Elettra Ronchi started her policy career in 1993 as consultant for the United Nations Development Programme. Before joining the international civil service she held academic research and teaching positions in the US and France. She received her PhD from the Rockefeller University / Cornell Medical School (US), and MPP from the University of York (UK).

Loïc Garçon has been a Technical Office for the World Health Organization (WHO) Centre for Health Development in Kobe, Japan, since May 2008. He is in charge of WHO's research agenda on Innovation for Healthy Ageing, with a focus on models of care for elderly and assistive devices for ageing populations. He engaged in the coordination of the "WHO Global Forum on Innovation for Ageing Populations" successfully held in Kobe in December 2013. He has also been involved in activities related to Smoke-Free Cities and Urban Health Equity. Garçon holds a Master of Arts in Social Sciences and a Master of Business Administration. Previously, he was Programme manager for multiple bilateral organizations in Sub-Saharan Africa and independent consultant focusing on strategic planning for international organizations.

Hiroshi Mikitani is the founder, chairman and CEO of Rakuten, Inc. - one of the world's largest Internet companies. He began his career as an investment banker at Industrial Bank of Japan and left in 1995 to start his own consulting firm, Crimson Group. Two years later and with just a handful of employees, he launched "Rakuten Ichiba" - the Rakuten marketplace.

Rakuten, which was founded on a mission of empowering the world through the Internet, has expanded beyond e-commerce to encompass a dynamic global ecosystem of various Internet services. The firm has operations in 28 countries and customers all over the world.

Born in Kobe, Mikitani was educated at Hitotsubashi University in Tokyo and then earned his MBA at Harvard Business School in Cambridge, MA. In 2012, he was awarded the HBS Alumni Achievement Award, one of the school's highest honors. He is also a recipient of the Legion of Honour, an award bestowed by the French government in recognition of his contributions to the economy and culture of France.

Waichi Sekiguchi is an editorial writer for Nikkei, the largest economic daily news in Asia. He joined Nikkei in 1982 and has been covering the IT industry and cyberspace issues for over 20 years. As a Washington correspondent during the Bush and Clinton Administrations in the early 90s, Sekiguchi covered US trade and government policies. He was a Fulbright fellow at the Center for International Affairs at Harvard University in the late 80s, and was a chief writer for the Nikkei Weekly, the English edition of the Nikkei. Sekiguchi served as a news commentator for a NHK World TV program "Nikkei Japan Report" in 2009-2012 and as a main caster at a BS Japan program "NIKKEI ~ BS Live 7PM" in 2012-2013. Sekiguchi graduated from Hitotsubashi University, and is currently a visiting professor at Hosei University Business School and the Center for Global Communications (GLOCOM) at the International University of Japan.

After earning his undergraduate degree at Tohoku University a little more than decade ago, he joined the Business News Department of Nikkei in Tokyo as a staff writer. He covered technology, medical, automotive, and financial news. After he joined the Program on US-Japan Relations of Harvard University, he went on to oversee the U.S. Silicon Valley Bureau for a few years.
