Chairman, Nokia Corporation, Finland
Lecturer brief history

[EXPERIENCE]

Nokia Corporation
Chairman 2012- present
Chairman and Interim CEO 09/2013 – 04/2014

After being appointed chairman of Nokia in May 2012, Risto Siilasmaa has led the company in one of the most successful corporate transformations ever. Through four transactions that he orchestrated - the purchase of complete ownership of NSN, the sale of the handset business to Microsoft, the sale of the Nokia mapping business and the recently announced acquisition of Alcatel-Lucent - Nokia has transformed from a bankruptcy candidate to a successful global technology leader. This is reflected in Nokia' s value which has gone up fivefold over roughly three years. Even more revealingly, the enterprise value has grown from a low of less than 1.5 billion euros soon after Siilasmaa started as chairman to well over 20 billion euros in early 2015.

The transformation of Nokia has also included Siilasmaa renewing the board and the management. Only one management team member remains from the old team. Siilasmaa has often stated that all the atoms in Nokia have been changed but the spirit of the 150 year old company lives on.

Lecturer brief history

The SOLIZE Group has over 1000 engineers that work onsite and offsite in the field of product design and analysis with 3D CAD tools in the Automotive, Infrastructure and Healthcare industry. Our engineers also support MBD areas since simulation is necessary for software development in the highly developed automotive industry these days. In addition, we are able to build a prototype of a whole car with the largest capacity in 3D prototyping for B to B in Japan. Also the Japan-largest metal 3D printing plant was established last year and we have started R&D with our clients.
IoT changes the traditional views against People, Place and Product. 3D data development and 3D printing have already directly been influencing the way of thinking about place and product. I believe the relationship with People will bring an enormous impact. We have focused on the human decisions and developed unique process solution technology by visualizing and digitizing the decisions, with which we are sure to support global product development for our clients.
