"Tools and technologies for Digital Trust"

With the continued evolution of smartphone, cloud, and other information and communications technologies (ICT), a wide range of fields are undergoing digital transformation (DX). At the same time, virtual online societies such as the “metaverse” are also growing. Furthermore, as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic and the emergence of the high-speed telecommunications standard that is 5G, practices such as remote working, online education, and telemedicine are becoming more widespread. How, then, can digital transactions and the sharing of data online be done safely and securely? This session will discuss the use of technologies, tools, and other methods of ensuring trust in a digital society, i.e. “digital trust.”

Session 4

  "Towards Securing Reliable Digital Infrastructure"

It is critical to secure reliable digital infrastructure in order to realize a trustworthy internet society. One of the various measures being now taken to secure such infrastructure by different countries around the world, including Japan, the U.S., and some countries in Europe and Asia, is the introduction of Open RAN. In addition, the formulation of standards, including Open RAN, to allow different players to participate is vitally important, not only from the perspective of ensuring the reliability of digital infrastructure, but also from the perspective of driving innovation. In this session, decision-makers of the governments of the U.S, the UK, and Australia, as well as representatives of world-leading telecommunications operators and suppliers, will give presentations and hold panel discussions on their efforts, challenges, and expectations regarding Open RAN. These presentations and panel discussions are also expected to illuminate future challenges and the importance of standardization, while taking into consideration progress in 5G supplier diversity and the future realization of Beyond 5G.
